The mild change in elevation and fine quality of the path running along the river make biking an easy and enjoyable way to experience the beauty of the Acheron River. Shade is provided by the trees lining the river and the crystal clear water of the river is a great way to refresh yourself after an exhilarating bike ride.
Ammoudia – Alonaki
A picturesque route for the entire family with a great reward at the end! Leaving from Ammoudia, follow the course of the river until reaching the village of Mesopotamo where you can visit the site of the Nekromanteio or ancient oracle. Cyclists can continue on until they reach the beautiful beaches of Kerentza and Alonaki. The return trip covers a distance of 20 kilometres.
Ammoudia – Acheron sources
This more challenging route takes cyclists from Ammoudia to Mesopotamo where you can visit the Nekromanteio. The journey continues through forests as well as roads where caution is needed. The finishing point is the village of Glyki, which is where the source of the Acheron is located. Though the journey there and back is 60 kilometres, the route is relatively easy.
